Sign the letter to the PM and Energy Secretary

Dear Prime Minister and Energy Secretary,

Our energy system is broken. Our energy prices are some of the most expensive in the world. Last year, we were one power station away from mass blackouts.

These costs make our companies uncompetitive. That means our industries are collapsing.

They make British households poor. That means they are just surviving, not living.

This is the result of decades of energy policy failure.

Today, we are launching the LFG Emergency Energy Bill to end the failure and get bills down for industries and households across the country. The Bill does the following:

• Scraps all levies on energy bills. These levies were introduced as a stealth tax and have allowed the Energy Department to become a second Treasury.
• Reopens the North Sea, and uses the tax revenue to get bills down.
• Stops new CfD contracts. Last year, billpayers paid £1.5 billion for big renewable energy corporations to throw energy away. By 2030, it'll be £8 billion. This settlement is a national scandal so the Bill launches an investigation into who and what was responsible.
• Scraps the Clean Power 2030 targets. These arbitrary targets have long pushed civil servants to procure wind, whatever the cost.
• Ditches the duties of energy regulators, NESO and Ofgem, towards Net Zero, so their only focus is to minimise energy costs, subject to supply security.
• Holds auctions for connecting to the grid, and uses the proceeds generated to get bills down.

There is no time to waste. Please adopt our Bill in full. Save British industries and the British people.
