Something Completely Different Ltd runs a number of campaigns, including Looking For Growth (LFG) and Crush Crime. We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our websites, make a donation, or interact with our campaigns.

This policy applies to all of our campaigns. Where we refer to “we”, “us”, or “our”, we mean Something Completely Different Ltd and the campaigns it operates.

Who We Are

Something Completely Different Ltd is a not for profit UK company that operates grassroots campaigns focused on ending decline and improving life in Britain. For the purposes of data protection law (UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018), Something Completely Different Ltd (trading as Looking For Growth and Crush Crime) is the "Data Controller." What Data We Collect

We may collect and process the following types of personal data:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (if provided)
  • Location (if you sign up for local events or Chapters)
  • Donation and payment information, including the amount, date, and whether you have set up a recurring donation. Card details are collected and processed by our payment provider, Stripe, and are never stored by us.
  • Copies of campaign emails you optionally choose to send us, including your sender address and any information you add to the message
  • Any additional information you choose to submit via forms, event signups, or volunteering

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Communicate with you about events, campaigns, and opportunities to get involved
  • Record participation in a campaign where you have optionally sent us a copy of your email
  • Manage event registrations and volunteer activities
  • Send you newsletters, updates, and relevant information (where you have consented)
  • Process and administer your donations, including recurring donations, and send you receipts.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

Contact Across Our Campaigns

Because our campaigns are run by the same company, if you sign up to or donate to one campaign we may also tell you about other campaigns where they are likely to be of interest to you. You can opt out of communications from any or all of our campaigns at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.

Lawful Basis for Processing

We process your personal data under one or more of the following lawful bases:

  • Consent: Where you have given clear consent for us to process your data.
  • Contract: where processing is necessary to administer a donation or subscription you have set up with us
  • Legal Obligation: Where necessary to comply with legal requirements.

How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your data. We only share your personal data:

  • With trusted service providers strictly to deliver our services, for example CRM and email platforms (such as Brevo) and our payment provider (Stripe)
  • Between our own campaigns, as described above
  • Where required by law or regulatory authorities
  • With your explicit consent, if needed for collaboration or volunteering activities

All third-party providers are required to take appropriate security measures and comply with UK GDPR.

Donations and Payments

Donations to any of our campaigns are processed by Stripe. When you donate, your payment details are provided directly to Stripe and are subject to Stripe’s own privacy policy.

We receive confirmation of your donation together with your name, email address, and the amount, which we use to administer your donation, send receipts, and keep the financial records we are required to keep. Recurring donations can be cancelled at any time by contacting us.

Campaign Email Copies

Some of our campaign tools offer an optional checkbox that adds one of our email addresses as a blind-copy (BCC) recipient in your own email application. If you select it and send the email, we will receive your sender address, the campaign message, and any personal information you add to the draft.

We use an email received in this way only to record participation in that campaign. This optional choice does not subscribe you to marketing and does not affect your ability to use the campaign tool. The checkbox is not selected by default, and you can withdraw before sending by unticking it or removing the BCC recipient in your email application. After sending, you can ask us to delete the copy by contacting hello@lookingforgrowth.uk.

How We Protect Your Data

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, or disclosure. Access to your personal data is limited to authorised individuals who have a legitimate need to know.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Withdraw your consent at any time
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

Data Retention

We only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including legal or reporting requirements. Once no longer needed, your data is securely deleted.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you via email.
