infrastructure bill

PARTIAL WIN

LFG launched its own National Priority Infrastructure Bill to fix Britain's broken planning system. The proposed legislation received cross-party support and an endorsement from The Times. The government has now adopted key portions of it, proof that action works.

LFG crowd-funded and sent 1,000 bills to MPs. MPs spoke about the Bill in Parliament. The Government adopted some of the measures from our own bill into their plans.

Partial Victory

PARTIAL WIN

The government took our ideas and implemented them in their Planning and Infrastructure Act 2025. The measures adopted by the government are somewhat watered down compared to our original bill, nonetheless they're a step forward, and demonstrate how real public pressure can force government to act.

Implementations in the Planning and Infrastructure Act inspired by the LFG Infrastructure Bill

Judicial Review Reform (Clause 19)

Legal challenges are blocking vital infrastructure at every turn. The bill proposes one attempt, no repeated legal challenges, ending the cycle of endless reviews that stall projects for years. The government has limited judicial reviews, though not as decisively as our bill demanded.

Accelerated Processes (Clause 11)

Developers now contribute to a national nature restoration fund rather than managing site-by-site mitigation, cutting red tape and speeding up delivery. Fast-tracked planning for nuclear was adopted, though implementation has been slower than our bill envisaged.

Community Incentives (Clause 10)

Financial rewards for communities near major projects were adopted, ensuring local people share in the gains of national growth. Payments to people near construction sites are now government policy, directly drawn from our bill.
