Dave Hinton, CEO of South East Water, has blamed ‘lifestyle changes’ for repeated water shortages.
Thousands of people in Tunbridge Wells have been going without clean, running water for weeks at a time, despite a 20% price increase last year.
Families have been forced to rely on bottled water to drink, cook, wash, and flush toilets. Parents have struggled to care for young children. Vulnerable and elderly residents have been put at risk. Schools have had to shut. Local businesses have been forced to close, losing substantial income through no fault of their own.
These are not freak incidents or unavoidable acts of nature. These repeated failures are the predictable consequence of several years of negligence, underinvestment and poor maintenance by South East Water.
We believe that the people of Tunbridge Wells should have access to clean, running water all of the time.
This is why we are today calling on Dave Hinton to just do his job..
Clean, running water isn’t optional. If parts of Britain face shortages, that’s decline, and we don’t have to accept it.
LFG is organisning locals to hold the CEO of South East Water to account.
