Looking For Growth

Leeds

About the chapter

Leeds has been known for being the largest city in Europe without a 'mass transit system.' Recent plans by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to reintroduce tram routes promise finally to address this. We further see this fresh impetus as a golden chance to address the broader transport issues in the wider region, affecting not only trams (or the lack thereof), but longer-distance trains and shorter-distance buses.

Indeed, Leeds is a major city in the British nation as a whole, but whilst it is the largest in its region, it is by no means the only urban centre therein. Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax, and other smaller towns come together to form the populous West Yorkshire cluster, and a significant transportation intervention could not only better connect them to Leeds' prosperity, but make them work together better as an integrated whole. Thus, we might say we are the LFG Chapter for Leeds, on behalf of West Yorkshire.

We will be launching soon. We certainly expect to be a forceful voice for better public transport in the region, as this is a central priority for local prosperity, and we look forward to hearing from the broadest range of voices on how to make Leeds and West Yorkshire grow.
